Paolo Caccese wines

Ciao,

today I’m taking you to the Collio and, more precisely, to the hills of Pradis in Cormons. I’ll take you to know Paolo Caccese Winery, a small reality of excellent quality.

The origins

Let’s talk briefly about the history of this winery and this family. The winery was born in the last century, in the fifties. Paolo’s father, Francesco, was an engineer then and worked in Villa Russiz (not the cellar, but the villa itself). I don’t know if you have had the opportunity to visit Villa Russiz; if not, it is surrounded by vineyards, and it is here that Francesco discovers the wine world and falls in love with it so much that he decides to buy two and a half hectares of vineyards in Pradis.

About twenty years later, his son Paolo (the current owner of the winey) does more or less the same thing. He abandoned his law studies to devote himself full-time to the winery. Another 20 years pass, and we arrive in the early nineties; Paolo, in the meantime, marries Veronica, and it is she who convinces him to expand the company and buy another three and a half hectares of land to expand production.

Today the company covers about six hectares of land, all planted with native and international vineyards. The wine list extends from the classic Friulano to Pinot Bianco, Traminer Aromatico to Sauvignon, Malvasia, Riesling and Pinot Grigio. The reds are also delicious; I suggest the Cabernet Franc.

Then, if you like sweet wines, you cannot fail to taste Veronica, the raisin wine Paolo dedicated to his wife Veronica and made with Verduzzo and Malvasia Istriana grapes.

If you pass by Cormons, make sure you have a few free hours to visit Paolo Caccese’s winery, the landscape will enchant you and the wines too!

If you can’t go there, no problem; you can still taste all the wines and find them here!

ciao

Monica
