Christmas biscuits

Hello All!

Christmas is getting closer and this year I have decided to share with you one little secret.

Every year at Christmas I made the Christmas biscuits and then I give them to my family and friends as gifts. You need to be willing to spend some time making them and have some ideas for the decorations but the success is guaranteed.

Every year at the beginning of December I start receiving text messages from my friends that sound more or less like this: “Hello Ilde, how are you? Hope everything is good! I was wondering… you are going to make your biscuits this year…. right???” and every year I make them happy!!!!

As I told you earlier this year, for the first time, I am sharing one of my “secret” recipe.

Ingredients

250 gr flower
125 gr butter
100 gr sugar
1 pinch of salt
1 egg

+  the aroma that varies depending on the flavor you want to give to your biscuit: you can use 100 gr of nuts or almonds or coconut finely chipped (to the level of the flower) or the skin and the juice of a lemon or an orange… or just use your imagination!

Preparation

Everything is done manually;  poor the flower and the sugar; add the salt and the aroma you have decided to use. At this point add the egg and start mixing it with the other ingredients.  Once the egg has been adsorbed by the flower and the sugar, add the butter that needs to be at home temperature (otherwise you will not be able to work the dough) mix well until you obtain a soft and smooth dough.

Let it rest in fridge for few hours then roll the dough until it is about half a centimeter high and with some Christmas cutters make your biscuits.

Back in oven at 180 C  for about 10/15 minutes.

Once they are cold I love decorating them with chocolate or icing (lemon icing for the lemon flavor biscuits and orange icing for orange flavor biscuits).

You must taste them with a good wine! I suggest the Ramandolo!

Enjoy making the biscuits and tasting them with the wine! Let me know how you did and if your friends liked them…

See you soon

ciao

Ilde
