A Journey through the Friulian Hills

Nestled among the folds of the Friulian hills, the Ronchi di Manzano Winery is a jewel of tradition and innovation. With a history rooted in the era of the Counts of Trento, the company is now led by Roberta Borghese, a woman who embodies passion and dedication to viticulture. Alongside her, her daughters Lisa and Nicole follow in their mother’s footsteps, bringing energy and innovation to the family management. The atmosphere among the vineyards is a blend of history and modernity, with the hills embracing the vine rows like a living painting.

Cutting-Edge Techniques and Respect for Nature

The Family

Roberta has transformed Ronchi di Manzano into an example of innovation while respecting traditions. The adoption of short pruning techniques and the replanting of vineyards are just some of the methods used to ensure the quality of the grapes. The underground cellar, built into the rock, houses a barreling area with French oak barrels, where the wines rest and enrich with aromas. Manual harvesting in crates is a further sign of respect for the grapes and the land, avoiding any damage to the precious clusters.

The Wines: Expression of the Friulian Terroir and the Crus

The wines of Ronchi di Manzano reflect the unique terroir of the Colli Orientali. Their white wines, characterized by finesse and elegance, play on gentle and fresh tones, revealing composed and well-blended aromas. The reds, on the other hand, stand out for their ruby colors and fruity or slightly herbaceous scents. Particularly noteworthy are the winery’s crus, coming from vineyards in privileged positions such as those in Rosazzo. Here, the marly soil called “ponca” maintains a constant level of humidity, giving the reserve wines superior quality. These crus offer wines that combine grace and power, fully expressing the excellence of the territory. The high presence of mineral salts and trace elements in the soil imparts unmistakable accents to the wines, making them an authentic expression of the Friulian terroir.
