The book – THE EIGHT MOUNTAINS – by Paolo Cognetti

Ciao!

By speaking of this book, I do not want to replace any critics; my passion for reading was born thanks to my elementary school teacher Giuliana. She was a great, light, influential woman who gave us a small book with a personal note on our birthday to read and exchange with our classmates.

So I became a compulsive book reader; I must always have at least three spare unread; furthermore, it is tough for me to lend them, and I prefer to buy and give them away as a present.

In this article, I will talk to you about my impressions.

The Book

THE EIGHT MOUNTAINS has just been looking for me. The freshness in Cognetti’s writing, the lightness in discovering a way of life that sometimes appears so complicated to us because caught up in the race for “success”, but above all, the thrill of discovering how much those who love the mountains like me, have in common.

That’s right, Cognetti is a writer you devour; he can move you without weighing you down. However you experience it, the mountain is an effort to reach a peak, a hut, and it is precisely that effort that I love, making me focus on the here and now according to the goal.

When I climb, especially in winter with snow and snowshoes, I listen to the silence, and it is mutual listening; I am sure that that silence fills my thoughts, refreshes them and returns them fully to me.

I found the apex of reading when the meaning of the Eight Mountains is explained. I will not spoil it, but this made me reflect on how much our choices affect our life. It was crazy to realize how much there is nothing like the mountain to remember.

Wine pairing

Why not suggesting a delicate red with character, like Pinot Noir? Not only to remain in the high mountain theme but precisely for the concept of extreme wine. We know how difficult it is to harvest at high altitudes. So enjoy the scented notes of this grape essence, which hides fatigue but which gives great pleasure.

A presto

Elisa
