Pink grapefruit sorbet

Ciao,

Today we do the pink grapefruit sorbet; I’ll tell you right away that if you don’t like grapefruit you can use another fruit; I made it with lemon, orange, and raspberry it turned out great.

Quick and easy like all my recipes;here are the ingredients:

Pompelmo
pink grapefruits

Ingredients for 8 servings

  • 3 pink grapefruits
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 sachet of vanillin
  • 200 g of sugar
  • salt
  • biscuits to accompany

Preparation

In a saucepan, pour the sugar with 200ml of water. Melt the sugar over low heat, it will take about ten minutes. Once the sugar has dissolved, remove from the heat and let the syrup cool.

Cut the grapefruits in half and squeeze them; filter the juice so that there are no seeds or pieces of grapefruit. Add the grapefruit juice to the water and sugar syrup and mix well; at this point add the vanillin sachet and mix, making sure that the vanillin dissolves well.

Pour everything into a container and let it rest for at least 2 hours in the freezer. The ideal container is the one for making ice cubes.

After two hours, whip the egg whites until stiff with a pinch of salt. Remove the juice from the freezer and place it in the blender jug to chop it. Once you have obtained a cream, incorporate the egg whites, mixing  from bottom to top. Put the mixture back in the freezer for at least two hours.

How to serve

When ready to enjoy this sorbet, remove it from the freezer, put it back in the blender glass, and blend it until you obtain a cream. If you want to make it alcoholic, you can add whatever you like, I suggest gin!

Once you reach the right consistency, pour the sorbet into the glass and serve it with a couple of biscuits.

I hope you like it!
ciao

Monica
