Today, the expert hands of Stefano Traverso, an enologist who inherited his father’s passion, manage the winery. Here, the vineyards are a true celebration for wine lovers. Among the white grapes, you’ll find Ribolla Gialla, Pinot Grigio, Friulano, Sauvignon, and Chardonnay, while the reds include Schioppettino di Prepotto, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.

A Unique Territory and a Cutting-Edge Winery

Thanks to the perfect microclimate, protected by the Julian Alps and influenced by the proximity of the sea, Vigna Traverso wines have a character all their own. The “ponca” soil, with its marl and sandstone, is ideal for viticulture. In the vineyard, the Guyot training system is practiced, and the harvest is rigorously manual, with separate vinification to enhance the unique qualities of each variety. The winery itself is a masterpiece of functionality and sustainability, redesigned in 2011, it primarily uses steel for vinification, but French oak barrels are employed for the reds and the Sottocastello white. Experimentation with techniques like cold soaking and cryomaceration is always undertaken with an eye towards sustainability.
