The Troj from Vigna Traverso Winery
The Troj wine, produced by the renowned Vigna Traverso Winery, is an authentic expression of the Friuli Colli Orientali region. Located in the northeastern part of Italy, this region is celebrated for its rich, hilly soils, ideal for viticulture. Troj is a characterful red wine, born from the harmonious blend of three native grape varieties: Merlot (40%), Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso (30%), and Schioppettino (30%). Its production takes place in the vineyards of Prepotto, in the province of Udine, at 160 meters above sea level, with an ideal southeast exposure.
The Troj from Vigna Traverso Winery is a wine that elegantly and profoundly expresses the winemaking tradition of the Friuli Colli Orientali, making it an excellent choice for lovers of quality red wines.
The Winemaking
The winemaking process of Troj begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes in late September, ensuring careful selection of the best bunches. After destemming and crushing, the grapes undergo maceration with daily delestage to enhance the wine’s sensory characteristics. Malolactic fermentation takes place in wood, completing the aromatic profile. Subsequently, the wine matures for about 11 months in stainless steel tanks and barriques of various cycles, followed by bottle aging before commercial release.
Tasting the wine of the winery
Troj presents itself with an intense ruby red color, promising a rich and complex tasting experience. On the nose, it offers a full and robust bouquet with notes of black cherry and raspberry intertwined with elegant hints of pepper, acquired during aging. On the palate, the wine is dry, structured, and zesty, with a notable fruity persistence that makes it a versatile companion for many occasions.
Food Pairings
Thanks to its harmonious structure and complete sensory profile, Troj pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes. It is particularly recommended with cold cuts, roasts, grilled meats, and rabbit, enhancing the characteristics of each dish. It is advised to serve it at a temperature of 16-18°C to fully appreciate its nuances.
