Tenuta Anfosso:
The origin of Rossese
Historical Origins
Tenuta Anfosso, located in Soldano, in the province of Imperia, represents a piece of Ligurian viticultural history. Its origins date back to 1888 when Giacomo Anfosso replanted the Poggio Pini vineyard. Today, some of those historic vines continue to produce exceptional grapes. The estate is renowned for its Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore, a DOC wine characterized by a ruby red color, a vinous aroma, and a soft, aromatic taste. The management of the estate was taken over in 2002 by Alessandro and Marisa, continuing the family tradition with passion and innovation.
Viticultural Production
The heart of Tenuta Anfosso’s production focuses on about five hectares of land cultivated traditionally, without mechanization, on steep terrains supported by dry stone walls. The challenge of cultivating in these difficult conditions is rewarded by the quality of the grapes and wines produced. The estate produces three main crus: Poggio Pini, Luvaira, and Fulavin, each with unique characteristics dictated by the terroir. In addition to the famous Rossese, they also produce the rosé Sciacau and the white wine Antea, derived from Rossese bianco grapes.
Philosophy and Dedication
The philosophy of Tenuta Anfosso is based on a profound respect for the land and tradition. Despite the challenges of the terrain, the Anfosso family continues to work with dedication to enhance the unique characteristics of Rossese di Dolceacqua. The estate welcomes visitors by appointment, offering an authentic experience to discover the flavors and aromas of Liguria. The history, passion, and constant commitment make Tenuta Anfosso an example of excellence in Italian viticulture, uniting past and present in a blend of tradition and quality.
