The Dobuje Winery

A bit of history

The Dobuje Winery is located in the heart of the Brda region in Slovenia. It is a renowned wine-making company in the beautiful Collio region, specifically in the municipality of Snežeče. Founded in the 1980s, Dobuje Winery is set in an area historically dedicated to viticulture. The climatic and soil conditions are ideal for vine cultivation. The Bučinel family has managed the winery for generations. They passionately produce high-quality wines, maintaining the local wine-making tradition. Brda is also known as the “Slovenian Tuscany.” It features gentle hills and a temperate, Mediterranean-influenced climate, perfect for viticulture.

The Vineyards

They cover an area of 10 hectares, of which 8 are located near the farm, while the remaining 2 are at Hruševje, about 3 kilometers away. The winery’s philosophy is based on a deep respect for nature and a harmonious interaction with the surrounding environment. Each grape variety is carefully chosen based on the specific characteristics of the soil and microclimate, which promote healthy growth and optimal ripening. The cultivation of the vineyards follows sustainable methods, minimizing the use of fertilizers and chemical treatments, and prioritizing manual labor, especially during the harvest, to ensure the highest quality grapes.

The Wines

Wine production at Dobuje Winery is characterized by meticulous attention at every stage of the process, from harvesting to vinification. White wines are obtained through fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, followed by aging on noble lees from April to May. Red wines, on the other hand, undergo maceration on the skins and subsequently mature in oak barrels for a period ranging from 18 to 24 months. The range also includes special selections, made from grapes from vines that promise the best quality for that specific year.
