The Maria Nevea Selection from Dobuje Winery
The white wine “Selection Maria Nevea” from Dobuje winery is a sophisticated and harmonious blend composed of five grape varieties: 30% Chardonnay, 20% Rebula (Ribolla Gialla), 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Sivi Pinot (Pinot Grigio), and 15% Malvazija (Malvasia Istriana). This wine represents the excellence of the BRDA region in Slovenia, thanks to its refined composition and the quality of the selected grapes. Protected by the ZGP geographical designation, “Selection Maria Nevea” expresses the authenticity of the terroir, with vineyards exposed to the southeast on opoka (ponca) soils. The grapes come from vineyards aged between 16 and 33 years, situated at an altitude of 130-160 meters above sea level. This wine is produced only in vintages when the grapes are practically perfect.
The Winemaking
The winemaking of “Selection Maria Nevea” begins with a manual harvest, carried out at different times depending on the variety: Ribolla in early October, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc in mid-September, Chardonnay and Malvasia at the end of September. The grapes undergo destemming and crushing, followed by 24-hour cryomaceration, performed separately for each variety. Subsequently, the wine matures on fine lees for 10 months in stainless steel containers, before being transferred to large oak barrels, where it continues to age for an additional 18 months. Malolactic fermentation is carried out to soften the wine’s profile and improve its balance. Finally, the wine is bottle-aged for 10 months, reaching an alcohol content of 14.50%.

Tasting “Selection Maria Nevea” offers a complex and enveloping sensory experience. The wine presents a bright golden yellow color with green reflections. On the nose, intense and complex aromas of exotic fruits, citrus, and floral notes emerge, accompanied by hints of vanilla and wood, derived from oak aging. On the palate, the wine is structured and velvety, with a well-balanced acidity that provides freshness and liveliness. The long and harmonious taste persistence is characterized by a finish that recalls fruity and spicy notes.
