The Malvazija from Dobuje Winery
The Malvazija (Malvasia) from the Dobuje winery represents a viticultural excellence of the BRDA region in Slovenia. This variety, known for its distinctive character and history in the area, has been an integral part of Dobuje’s vineyards for over three decades. In 2011, the winery undertook a significant renewal of the vineyards, carefully replanting the Istrian Malvasia, which quickly led to extraordinary results. With a ZGP geographical protection, the Malvazija from Dobuje is an authentic expression of the territory, cultivated on opoka (ponca) soils with an ideal southeast exposure.
The Winemaking
The winemaking process for Malvazija begins with a manual harvest carried out in the first half of September. The carefully selected grapes are destemmed and crushed before undergoing a six-hour skin maceration. Subsequently, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, using a blend of indigenous and selected yeasts. The wine matures on fine lees for seven months, a process that enriches its aromatic profile and complexity. A partial malolactic fermentation helps smoothen the acidity, maintaining a perfect balance in the final product, which is further refined in the bottle for 4-6 months.

Tasting the Malvazija from Dobuje offers a rich and engaging sensory experience. The wine presents a bright straw-yellow color, accompanied by golden reflections. On the nose, floral and fruity notes emerge, with hints of peach, apricot, and white flowers.
