The winery Simon Komjanc is located in the heart of the hills of San Floriano del Collio, specifically in the Valerisce area, within the renowned D.O.C. Collio, famous for its excellent wine production. With a total area of 20 hectares, of which 11 are dedicated to vineyards, the company produces an average of 600 hectoliters of wine, mainly distributed in Italy. The grapes, sourced exclusively from its own vineyards, are vinified using modern technologies while respecting the historical traditions of the area. To ensure the highest quality, the wine is bottled and marketed directly by the company.

The Family

The winery is not just a physical place, but also a symbol of stories and traditions. The figure of Giuseppe, the founder’s grandfather, represents the bond with the land and the continuity of generations. While his six brothers pursued different professional paths, Giuseppe chose to remain connected to his family roots as a farmer and winemaker. Today, Evgen, along with his father Simon and wife Martina, continues to write the story of this winery, preparing their children Maja and Mitja to inherit a family deeply tied to the land.

The Collio

The Collio region, with its geological history spanning 225 million years, offers a unique soil for viticulture. The Flysch, composed of marls and sandstones, creates an ideal terrain for vines, thanks to its ability to retain water and release it slowly. The region’s microclimate, characterized by good sunlight, ventilation, and temperature fluctuations, promotes the optimal ripening of grapes, enriching them with sugars and aromas. This love for the land and wine has made Collio a true gem of winemaking, capable of producing complex and high-quality wines.

The Wines

The Simon Komjanc winery is known for producing wines that reflect the essence of the Collio territory. Among the most appreciated labels are structured and aromatic white wines such as Friulano and Sauvignon, which express the minerality and freshness typical of the marl soil. There are also elegant red wines, such as Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which benefit from the complexity of the soil and the mild climate to develop depth and intensity of flavors. Each bottle is the result of a careful winemaking process that combines traditional methods with modern innovations, ensuring a high-quality product that tells the story and passion of the Komjanc family for viticulture.
