The Vermentino Nero from the Lunae Bosoni winery
Vermentino Nero is an indigenous grape variety from the coastal hills of upper Tuscany and the far eastern Liguria, known as Levante. Cantina Lunae Bosoni, located in this enchanting region, has heavily invested in cultivating this grape variety, planting a vineyard of about 3 hectares in the early 2000s. This commitment has led to the creation of a unique wine that reflects the distinctive character of its native territory, named Liguria di Levante I.G.T. Vermentino Nero.
The Winemaking
The production of Vermentino Nero at Cantina Lunae Bosoni begins with the cultivation of grapes on medium-textured soils in the foothill area and sandy soils in the plains of Luni. These diverse terroir characteristics contribute to making a wine of great finesse and balance. The winemaking process is meticulously curated: the grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, with a skin maceration of about 10 days. Subsequently, the wine ages for 6 months in large 20 hl wooden barrels, a period sufficient to refine the aromas and flavors without overpowering the identity of the grape variety.
Tasting the wine of the winery
Vermentino Nero presents itself with a ruby red color and a bouquet of delicate yet complex aromas, expressing floral notes of violet and dog rose. The nose also detects hints of fresh red fruits and light spicy nuances. On the palate, the wine is fresh and dynamic, with a well-defined tannic texture that culminates in a slightly almond-like finish. This finish imparts a marked and intriguing personality to the wine, making it a unique tasting experience.
Food Pairings
Vermentino Nero is a versatile wine that pairs splendidly with typical Mediterranean cuisine. It is ideal with light-sauced pasta dishes, white meats, and grilled fish. Its floral and spicy notes complement semi-aged cheeses and mushroom-based dishes well. Additionally, its freshness and dynamism make it an excellent companion for land dishes with a touch of spice, enhancing flavors without overpowering them. This wine is also well-suited for convivial moments and aperitifs, offering a complete and satisfying sensory experience.
