Project Magis: A Journey of Uniqueness and Universality

The Magis project is an innovative oenological venture that combines Friulian tradition with the futuristic vision of Italian design. Conceived by Eugenio Perazza, founder of Magis, and now led by his son Alberto and daughter-in-law Barbara Minetto, the project is based on the philosophy of “To be unique and universal.” Collaborating with the world’s best designers, Magis has always aimed to create objects that embody Italian style, striving for a “more” that defines its essence. This same philosophy was applied to wine, creating a product that reflects the soul of the Friulian territory and projects it onto the international stage.

Nero Magis and Nero Magis Riserva: The Essence of Friuli

Friuli, with its rich heritage of native and international grape varieties, provided the raw material to create two distinctive wines: Nero Magis and Nero Magis Riserva. These wines not only express a strong territorial identity but also embody the idea of uniqueness through the fusion of local roots and the universality of Merlot, present in the region since 1880. Nero Magis is born from the union of Merlot and Pignolo, while Nero Magis Riserva is made from pure Pignolo. The former is suave and accessible, while the latter is rigorous, with a greater aging potential, capable of lasting up to 30 years in the best vintages.

The Territory and the History of Pignolo

The Doc Friuli Colli Orientali is the perfect stage for this project. Here, the vineyards offer a spectacular view of the hills, nestled between the sea and the Alps. This unique microclimate contributes to making the wines extraordinary, with soils composed of marl rocks and sandstone from the tertiary era. Among the native varieties, Pignolo stands out for its nobility and fascinating history, dating back to 1398. The revival of this grape, one of the oldest in Friuli, has been guided by Walter Filiputti, who dedicated years to its recovery. Its superb aging capability makes it a worthy representative of tradition and a symbol of Italian luxury.

In summary, the Magis project represents an important chapter in the history of Italian wine, where tradition and innovation merge to create unique and universal wines, destined to leave a lasting mark on the global oenological landscape.
