THE WINE
The Montefalco Rosso Riserva of the Arnaldo Caprai winery is a bland Sangiovese (70%), Sagrantino (15%) and Merlota (15%), produced for the first time in 1993.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is strictly manual and only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking. After pressing, the must ferments in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The refinement takes place in oak barriques and lasts for at least 20 months. After bottling, the wine rests for a further 6 months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Dark ruby red. The aroma is intense and complex with elegant notes of red fruit that alternate with hints of violet, to leave room for chocolate and vanilla. Soft on the palate with a velvety and very well polished tannin. Excellent persistence with a very long finish that perfectly matches the aromas.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes very well with red meat, hard cheeses and game.
