THE WINE
The Arbis Blanc of the Borgo San Daniele winery is a blend of Friulano, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon grapes in percentages that vary depending on the vintage. Grapes that are all grown in San Leonardo in the municipality of Cormons in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Arbis in the Friulian language translates as “herbs” and is the simplest and most immediate way to tell you how the grapes grow, on soils left covered with wild herbs that are periodically mown.
THE WINEMAKING
The harvest is manual and the grapes are hand picked separately. Once in the celler, the grapes are wine made separately and when still must, the get assembled in order to complete the fermentation together. The outcome is a well-tied and balanced wine that ages in steel. After bottling, it rests a few months in the cellar before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Straw yellow. The aroma is complex, starting with the typical varietal notes of the grapes, continuing with pleasant hints of wildflowers and aromatic herbs and ending with tones reminiscent of acacia honey. Very well structured on the palate, it is an easy to drink wine thanks to its minerality and softness.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with fish and shellfish. Must try with pasta and risotto.
