The Merlot from Vigna Traverso Winery is a typical representative of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, a region renowned for producing superior quality wines. The vineyards are located in the town of Prepotto, in the province of Udine, at 160 meters above sea level. This Merlot benefits from eastern exposure and altitude, which contribute to making the wine full-bodied and aromatically complex. The Eocene marl soil, rich in potassium and microelements, provides the wine with a perfect balance between structure and savoriness.

The Winemaking
The harvest of Merlot takes place manually in late September, allowing for careful selection of the best grapes. After destemming and crushing, the grapes undergo maceration with daily delestage, a process that enhances the aromas and flavors. The malolactic fermentation is completed in wood, giving the wine greater softness and aromatic complexity. The wine matures for about 11 months in stainless steel tanks and barriques, followed by further aging in the bottle before commercialization.
Tasting the wine of the winery
The Merlot presents itself with an intense ruby red color, promising a full and enveloping tasting experience. On the nose, it reveals a robust and slightly herbaceous aroma, with notes of black cherry and raspberry enriched by spicy nuances during maturation. On the palate, the wine is dry, structured, and zesty, with a rich body that makes it extremely pleasant and persistent.

Thanks to its harmonious completeness, the Merlot from Vigna Traverso Winery pairs wonderfully with a wide range of dishes. It is particularly well-suited to cold cuts, roasts, grilled meats, and rabbit, enhancing the flavors of each dish. Its versatility makes it ideal for accompanying both convivial lunches and elegant dinners. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 16-18°C to fully appreciate its sensory characteristics.
