The Sauvignon Piere from Vie Di Romans Winery
The Sauvignon Piere from Vie Di Romans winery is named after the “Piere” vineyard, located in the renowned Friuli Isonzo Rive Alte area. The name “Piere” (which means stone in Friulian) was chosen to reflect the soil composition, characterized by a moderate skeleton and a siliceous clay fraction, which significantly influences the wine’s organoleptic profile. Situated in the municipality of Mariano del Friuli, the vineyard boasts 20-year-old plants and a planting density between 6,000 and 6,200 vines per hectare. This unique terroir contributes to the production of an exceptional quality Sauvignon Blanc, predominantly sparse-bunched Italian clones.

Let yourself be captivated by exotic aromas and a lively freshness that enhance every tasting moment, offering authentic and sophisticated emotions.
The Winemaking
The winemaking of Sauvignon Piere begins with de-stemming and cold skin maceration at 8 °C, designed to enhance varietal aromas. Clarification occurs in a static cold setting, followed by alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures between 16 and 19 °C, using selected yeasts. The fermentation lasts between 18 and 20 days, without malolactic fermentation, thus preserving the wine’s freshness and vibrancy. The elevage takes place on natural lees for 8 months, followed by natural clarification before bottling in May, and a 9-month bottle aging.
Tasting the wine of the winery
Sauvignon Piere presents with a brilliant straw yellow color, enriched with greenish reflections. On the nose, it offers an intense and complex bouquet, with aromas of exotic fruits like pineapple and yellow peach, delicate citrus peel notes, and pleasant hints of anise and elderflower. On the palate, the wine is rich and full, fresh and savory, with perfect balance and a good mineral note that enhances its structure.
Food Pairings
This wine pairs magnificently with fish-based dishes, especially more structured ones, and with seafood. It is also ideal with white meats and fresh cheeses. Its complexity and freshness make it perfect for accompanying a variety of dishes, enhancing flavors and preparations. Do not miss the chance to let yourself be seduced by Sauvignon Piere, a wine that invites you to discover the authentic flavors of Friuli with a touch of elegance and refinement.
