The Cabernet Franc from Ronchi di Manzano Winery is a wine that best expresses the unique characteristics of the Friuli Colli Orientali region. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes, this wine is a clear example of how an enological tradition can reveal the richness of the Friulian terroir. The combination of traditional viticulture techniques and modern winemaking results in a high-quality product that stands out for its bold and complex character.
The Cabernet Franc grapes are cultivated using the Guyot training system on marl and sandstone soils of Eocene origin, locally known as “ponca.” These soils impart a characteristic minerality to the wine. The vines, planted in 1975, are carefully managed to ensure optimal quality yield.
The Winemaking
After the harvest, the grapes undergo destemming and fermentation at controlled temperatures. This is followed by approximately 12 days of skin maceration, a crucial step for extracting the desired color and tannins. The wine is then transferred to stainless steel tanks for initial settling, before maturing in wooden barrels of various sizes for twelve months. Bottling is scheduled for June, followed by a two-month bottle aging period to further refine the taste.

Visually, the Cabernet Franc is presented with a crystalline ruby red color and good consistency. The aroma is intense and complex, with herbal and mineral notes blending into a refined bouquet. On the palate, the wine is dry and warm, characterized by good tannicity and sapidity.
