The Merlot from Ronchi di Manzano Winery
The Merlot from Ronchi di Manzano Winery is a wine that represents the excellence of the Friuli Colli Orientali region. This area, renowned for its unique soils and favorable microclimate, provides the ideal conditions for cultivating Merlot grapes. Ronchi di Manzano, with a solid winemaking tradition, produces a Merlot distinguished by its complexity and aromatic richness.
The Merlot is grown on marl and sandstone soils of Eocene origin, locally known as “ponca.” These soils impart a distinctive minerality to the wine. The vines, planted in 2000 using the Guyot system, benefit from careful and environmentally respectful agronomic management.
The Winemaking
The grape harvest is followed by destemming and fermentation at a controlled temperature. The maceration on the skins lasts about 12 days, allowing the extraction of colors and tannins that characterize the wine. Subsequently, the wine is transferred to stainless steel tanks before maturing in wooden barrels of various sizes for about 12 months. The final refinement occurs in the bottle for two months, ensuring a harmonious product ready for tasting.
Tasting the wine of the winery
Visually, the Merlot from Ronchi di Manzano Winery presents a clear, intense, and vivid purple-red color. On the nose, it offers a complex and fine bouquet, with fruity aromas of cherry and earthy notes of humus and foliage. On the palate, the wine is dry, with well-present tannins balanced by good sapidity. The taste is intense and fairly persistent, with a fine and harmonious body that makes the tasting particularly enjoyable.

This Merlot pairs perfectly with red meats like roast beef but also with white meats, enhancing their flavors thanks to its structure and complexity. It is also ideal with rich first courses and cured meats, where its natural acidity and aromatic persistence harmoniously integrate with the food’s flavors. Its versatility makes it an ideal companion for various culinary occasions, both formal and informal.
