The Pinot Bianco Tàlis from Venica & Venica Winery
The Pinot Bianco “Tàlis” from Cantina Venica & Venica is a white wine of great elegance and refinement, produced in the vineyards of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The name “Tàlis” comes from the Friulian term for “dandelion,” reflecting the fresh and floral sensations this wine can evoke. This grape variety, originally from Alsace, has found its ideal habitat in Friuli, where it best expresses its qualities with discretion, making it one of the most elegant white wines in the world.
Journalist Carlo Cambi describes it as a wine that “colors the glass with sunshine,” evoking the image of a fresh spring sun illuminating the landscape. The Pinot Bianco “Tàlis” captivates with its finesse, offering a fresh caress to the palate.
The Winemaking
The Pinot Bianco grapes were harvested and destemmed in the first decade of September. After harvesting, the grapes are macerated for about 12 hours at a controlled temperature of 10°/12°C. This process takes place in special containers where fermentation carbon dioxide is recycled to protect the grapes from oxidation, thereby reducing the use of antioxidants. About 40% of the wine is aged in large wooden barrels of 20/27 HL, while the remainder matures in steel containers. Bottling occurs in correspondence with the full moons of March and July.
Tasting the wine of the winery
Pinot Bianco “Tàlis” presents an intense straw yellow color. On the nose, the aroma is elegant, clean, and of increasing intensity, with dominant notes of loquat and jasmine flowers, accompanied by a delicate mineral vein. On the palate, it confirms its elegance with a fresh and savory taste, enriched by interesting floral and fruity hints. It is a consistent, structured wine with a good gustatory-olfactory persistence. The alcohol content is 13.50%.
Food Pairings
This Pinot Bianco is a delicate and versatile wine, perfect for pairing with a variety of dishes. It is ideal with fish appetizers, white minestrone, risotto with seasonal herbs, and zucchini velouté. Also try it with butter and salmon crostini or chicken salad. The recommended serving temperature is 12/13°C, and its aging potential exceeds 10 years.
