The Friulano from Vigna Traverso Winery
The Friulano from the Vigna Traverso Winery is an emblem of Friulian winemaking tradition, belonging to the DOC Friuli Colli Orientali. This dry white wine is an authentic expression of the territory, thanks to the Friulano grape variety, which is among the most representative of the region. Vigna Traverso Winery, located in one of the most suitable areas for viticulture, is renowned for producing wines that reflect the quality and identity of Friuli.
The Winemaking
The winemaking of Friulano begins with a manual harvest of the grapes, carried out in crates at two distinct times: the first part in early September and the remaining part ten days later. The whole grapes are subjected to soft pressing, and a portion is macerated for a few hours to enhance their aromas. The must undergoes static cold settling and is fermented at a controlled temperature, ensuring a final product that retains its sensory characteristics. The wine rests on the lees until March, with bottling occurring the following spring.
Tasting the wine of the winery
Friulano presents an enchanting straw yellow color with greenish hues. On the nose, it stands out for its complex bouquet, with notes of bitter almond, sage, elderflower, and alfalfa. On the palate, the wine is dry, soft, full, and harmonious, with persistence reflecting the depth of the clay soil (ponca) of the Ronco area, where the vineyards benefit from eastern exposure.
Food Pairings
Perfect for accompanying appetizers, fish dishes, and snails, Friulano also pairs excellently with white meats. It is unmatched with prosciutto, enhancing its flavors and creating a unique taste balance. Moreover, it represents the classic “Tajut,” a glass of wine to be shared in good company, embodying the convivial spirit typical of Friulian culture.
