The Refuso Friulano Wine from Ronc Platat Winery
The Refuso Friulano from Ronc Platat Winery embodies the essence of the Friuli Colli Orientali region. Located in San Giovanni al Natisone, Ronc Platat is renowned for its commitment to quality and Friulian winemaking traditions. The Refuso Friulano is a testament to this philosophy, produced with 100% Friulano grapes cultivated on small plots in Buttrio and Manzano, with vines that reach up to 80 years old. This wine stands out for its complexity and balance, reflecting the unique terroir of the region.
The Winemaking
The winemaking process of Refuso Friulano is meticulously executed to enhance the varietal characteristics of the grape. After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo gentle pressing to extract the must. The wine ferments in French oak barrels, where it remains for 11 months. This aging in wood imparts complex notes and an elegant structure to the wine, balanced by vibrant freshness. The entire winemaking process is designed to preserve the fruit’s integrity, highlighting the typical aromas and flavors of the Friulano grape.
Tasting the wine
Upon tasting, Refuso Friulano reveals a bright straw-yellow color. On the nose, it offers a complex aromatic bouquet with notes of white flowers, almond, and a hint of vanilla from the barrel aging. On the palate, the wine is full and enveloping, with good acidity balancing the structure and a long, persistent finish. Its robust alcohol content, at 14%, is well-integrated, making this wine a refined choice for connoisseurs.
Food Pairings
In terms of food pairings, Refuso Friulano pairs perfectly with traditional Friulian dishes like frico or aged cheeses. It is also excellent with fish-based dishes, especially those with more structure, such as baccalà mantecato. Its versatility also makes it suitable for accompanying white meats and mushroom-based dishes. Served at a temperature of 8-10°C, it best expresses its organoleptic characteristics, offering a unique sensory experience.
