The wine Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Marrucheto of the Castello Banfi winery
The Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Marrucheto from Castello Banfi Winery represents a masterpiece of Tuscan viticulture. Sourced from three plots of the Marrucheto vineyard, planted in 2009, this wine is an authentic expression of Sangiovese, the symbolic grape variety of the region, and the uniqueness of its terroir.
The Vigna Marrucheto 2019 is a celebration of Sangiovese and the terroir of Montalcino, a wine that embodies the tradition and innovation of Castello Banfi Winery.
The Winemaking
The harvest was characterized by a cold start to the season, with below-average temperatures in April and May, which delayed vegetative development. However, the warm and dry climate that followed allowed for optimal ripening of the grapes. The hand-picked grapes are vinified in combined steel and French oak tanks at a controlled temperature ranging between 25-30°C. The aging process took place in 60 and 90 hl French oak barrels for a minimum of 30 months, imparting a complex and refined structure to the wine. After bottling, the wine rested in the cellar for a few months before being released to the market.
Tasting the wine of the winery
The Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Marrucheto is of intense ruby red color. On the nose, it releases powerful and rich aromas, marked by freshness and vitality. Fruity notes of blackberry and ripe cherry intertwine with Mediterranean hints of carob and figs, while the finish reveals spices such as white pepper and bay leaf. The body is full, with silky and well-integrated tannins, culminating in a harmonious and balanced finish that makes this wine unique in its personality.
Food Pairings
This Brunello pairs perfectly with dishes of great complexity and aromaticity, such as braised meats, game, and aged cheeses. It is also an ideal meditation wine, perfect for savoring on its own, enhancing every sip with its structure and sapidity. Served at a temperature of 16-18°C, it represents an unforgettable sensory experience.
