Zidarich Winery
Between the Sea and the Carso
The Land of Carso
The Zidarich winery is located in the heart of the Carso, a region characterized by its limestone shaped by time and nature. Here, the rock dissolved by water has given life to a red and fertile soil, a place where eastern and western flora meet, carried by the breath of the wind. This unique landscape, nestled between the sea and the mountains, has been shaped by humans who have learned to make the most of what nature offers, cultivating the stone and allowing animals to graze freely. Once barren and inhospitable, today’s Carso has been reborn in lush greenery, protected and cherished.
Benjamin Zidarich and Tradition
For Benjamin Zidarich, Carso is not just a place but a philosophy of life and work. Deeply connected to the traditions and vocations of his land, Benjamin produces wines following ancient practices, with a profound respect for the cultural and natural heritage of Carso.
The Winery
Officially inaugurated on July 3, 2009, the new Zidarich winery is an extraordinary work that reflects the spirit of Carso. Entirely carved into the rock, with an impressive depth of 20 meters and development over five floors, the winery is built using local resources. Designed by architect Paolo Meng, its construction took almost eight years.
This underground structure extends over approximately 1,200 square meters and houses the entire production process of the winery. From its main entrance, the spaces follow one another harmoniously, from the processing areas to the aging zone, where the vaulted stone ceiling evokes a sense of history and sturdiness. At the highest level is the tasting room, where, through large windows, one can enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding vineyards that stretch out to the sea on the horizon.
The Zidarich winery is not just a place of production but a symbol of the union between man and nature, tradition and innovation, passion and territory.
