The Chenin Blanc Seaward from Spier Winery is an exceptional wine that reflects the quality and winemaking expertise of South Africa. Produced in the renowned Coastal Region, this wine represents the perfect blend of tradition and innovation, offering a unique sensory experience.
The Seaward label is named for the fact that the grapes are grown along the Cape’s coastal region. Spier’s winemakers make their selections within a narrow band of 25 km from the cold Atlantic coast and the temperate waters of False Bay. The Winemaking
The grapes are meticulously selected from vineyards located in the hills of Tygerberg and Stellenbosch, which benefit from the cool ocean breezes of the Atlantic. Harvesting is done by hand at dawn to preserve the freshness of the grapes, followed by rapid cooling. The winemaking process includes a skin contact of only four hours, allowing the must to stabilize naturally. Fermentation occurs in 300 and 400-liter oak barrels. The seven-month aging process takes place in second, third, and fourth-fill French oak barrels. This method imparts the wine with a complex structure and unparalleled aromatic depth.
Tasting the wine
Visually, the Chenin Blanc Seaward presents a captivating golden color with greenish reflections. The aromatic bouquet is an explosion of scents ranging from citrus, such as tangerine and lime, to floral notes, with a hint of ripe peach and melon. On the palate, the wine stands out for its complexity: the ripe fruit elegantly combines with a citrus freshness that culminates in a lively and persistent finish.

This Chenin Blanc Seaward is an extremely versatile wine that pairs well with a wide range of dishes.
