The Chardonnay Ronco Bernizza from Venica & Venica Winery
The Chardonnay Ronco Bernizza, from the prestigious Venica & Venica winery, is a white wine that excellently represents the Friulian winemaking tradition. This wine combines elegance and modernity, offering a refined expression of the Chardonnay grape, enhanced by meticulous care and innovation in production processes. The name “Ronco Bernizza” comes from the toponym of the area where the vineyards are located. The Bernizza hill features a notable slope, which required morphological reshaping to create terraced areas, facilitating the use of machinery and contributing to the distinctive quality of this wine. It is an excellent testament to the winery’s enological skill and deep respect for the territory.
Serve at a temperature of 12/13°C. Thanks to its structure, Ronco Bernizza has an aging potential of over 10 years, promising interesting aromatic evolutions over time.
The Winemaking
Following the harvest, which takes place in the first twenty days of September, the Chardonnay grapes undergo a 14-hour maceration at a controlled temperature (10°/12°C) in oxygen-protected containers. This innovative process uses the recycling of fermentation carbon dioxide, limiting the use of antioxidants. About 30% of the wine matures in large wooden barrels of 20/27 HL and in 5 HL tonneaux, while the rest ages in steel, maintaining its freshness and aromaticity. Bottling occurs in correspondence with the full moons of March and July.
Tasting the wine of the winery
The Chardonnay Ronco Bernizza presents a bright yellow color with golden hues. On the nose, delicate toasted notes, exotic fruit, and ripe white-fleshed fruit are complemented by fresh floral notes of jasmine. On the palate, the wine is warm and elegant, with pleasant sapidity and minerality. The good complexity and long persistence are highlighted by hints of toasted notes.
Food Pairings
This Chardonnay pairs perfectly with fish dishes, such as oven-baked turbot on a bed of buttered potatoes, and with semi-aged goat cheeses. It is also ideal with veal and mushroom-filled tortelli, creating a harmonious balance of flavors.
