The wine Barbera d’Alba Vigna Gabutti by Cappellano
The Barbera d’Alba Vigna Gabutti from the Cappellano winery is made from pure Barbera grapes cultivated in the historic Gabutti vineyard (from which the wine takes its name) located in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba. These vineyards are owned by the winery and are situated at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level. The Barbera, along with the Barolo Pie Rupestris, is one of the flagship wines of this winery, renowned worldwide.
The Winemaking
After manual harvesting, only the carefully selected grapes are brought to the winery for vinification, which begins with destemming and crushing. Subsequently, the must ferments for at least 20 days in cement tanks with only the aid of native yeasts. The aging of the wine, which is not filtered, takes place in large oak barrels and lasts for about 20 months. After blending and bottling, the wine rests for a period in the winery before being released to the market.
Tasting the wine from Cappellano winery
Intense ruby red, the aroma is complex and intense, with notes of red fruits such as blackberries and raspberries that intertwine with puffs of spices and sensations of undergrowth. Rich and intense on the palate, very well balanced, with velvety tannins and a perfect correspondence between aroma and taste. Very fresh with very long persistence.
Food Pairings
The Barbera d’Alba Vigna Gabutti pairs wonderfully with red meat dishes, aged cheeses, and game, making it an excellent choice as a meditation wine as well. Thanks to its complexity and enveloping character, it is perfect for enjoying in company or for moments of personal reflection. The Cappellano winery, with its Barbera d’Alba Vigna Gabutti, represents a true treasure of the Piedmontese winemaking tradition, a wine that tells stories of passion and dedication to the land.
