We are south of Cividale in the north east of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The La Luna Storta winery was founded in the 30s by Beatrice Pascolini’s grandad who, in addition to the vineyard and the production of the wines, also managed a small bad and breakfast. There is also a diploma dated 1939, relating to a wine exhibition in Siena, which featured the wines of Beatrice’s grandfather and his brother.

A few years ago, Beatrice and her family decide to leave their busy life and the office work to carry on her father’s legacy. Beatrice has a strong passion for the land; her husband Loris for winemaking and wine in general. With great enthusiasm they have restructured the company and renewed the wine list.

Today the La Luna Storta winery produces 4 labels; the Friulano aged in steel; the Merlot which ages 2 years in barrique; the Black Pepper, a blend of Schioppettino and Pinot Noir grapes that ferment as well as refining in wood and a champagne method bubble rose produced with schioppettino grapes.

If you are near Cividale you absolutely must pop in the winery; you will find the perfect welcome of Beatrice and Loris but not only … you will also find the cat Schippettino … the symbol of the winery. Let Beatrice and Loris tell you why it’s called Schiopettino!
