The wine Brda Kristian from the Edi Keber winery
The Brda Kristian white is a Slovenian orange wine that expresses a marked personality rich in aromas and sensations. This territorial wine is the result of blending Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, and Malvasia Istriana, grape varieties widely cultivated in the Goriska Brda region and representative of Slovenia’s winemaking history. Kristian Keber, the creator of this label, offers through this wine, a visionary, sincere, and unpretentious tasting experience that tells the story of the borderland from which it originates.
The Winemaking
Brda is born from a blend of white grape varieties typical of the Slovenian territory, cultivated according to organic and biodynamic agricultural practices on a small plot in Kozlink, in the Medana area. After manual harvesting, the grapes are pressed and macerated for 12 days on the skins in concrete tanks, fermenting spontaneously thanks to indigenous yeasts. The maturation occurs for 24 months in large oak barrels, followed by a further 12 months of aging in the bottle. This process allows the wine to develop remarkable complexity and structure.
Tasting the wine
Brda Kristian wine presents a golden yellow color with amber hues. On the nose, it offers an elegant, complex, and layered bouquet, with scents of Mediterranean scrub, aromatic herbs, citrus peel, honey, and dried flowers. On the palate, the wine is intense and flavorful, with salty, mineral, and fruity notes. It is characterized by notable freshness and a long-lasting finish, highlighting its territorial and artisanal identity.
Food Pairings
Brda Kristian lends itself to numerous gastronomic pairings, thanks to its structure and aromatic complexity. It is ideal with aged and blue cheeses, white meats, sauced fish, and typical dishes such as ricotta žlikrofi. This wine is perfect for serving at a temperature of 16-18°C, thus enhancing its organoleptic characteristics and offering a refined and engaging tasting experience.
