The Zorzettig winery is a family-run business located on the hills of Spessa di Cividale in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Here, the Zorzettig family begins its journey into the wine world, lasting more than 100 years.

Today the company reins are in the hands of Annalisa Zorzettig, who has been leading the business for about ten years. This company owns all its vines extending over 115 hectares, producing on average, 800,000 bottles a year, 50%  of which are intended for export. The cellar has a rather important history with the Austrian and German markets. But it is also expanding into Asia and the United States.

The Colli Orientali del Friuli

The 115 hectares of the winery are located over three main hills. The Spessa hills around the cellar headquarters, situated between the Natisone and the Judrio, is a stone’s throw from Cividale. Here the South-South East exposure is perfect for native vines such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, the Picolit and the Pignolo.

The hills of Ipplis enjoy excellent sun exposure, allowing for the perfect ripening of the autochthonous long-lived white vines, such as Malvasia, and international ones, such as Sauvignon.

The Colli di Novacuzzo in Prepotto here thanks to the climate enjoyed by the protection of the Julian Pre-Alps and the nearby Adriatic Sea, with significant temperature ranges and a unique terroir (the ponca) which allows all the olfactory qualities of the grapes to be extracted.
In addition to the Schioppettino, the absolute star of Prepotto, there are also vineyards of Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. Then there are some Friulano vineyards here which date back to 1930 and are the pride of the Zorzettig winery.

In the cellar

Nature, authenticity, evolution, and quality are the company’s watchwords. The 115 hectares of vineyards allow the winery to dedicate itself both to native wines such as Ribolla Gialla, Friulano or Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso but also to international ones such as Merlot and Sauvignon which, thanks to the perfect microclimate, find here an ideal place to grow.

Even the harvest is very accurate; the grapes get picked only when perfectly ripe and once in the cellar there is a further selection of the bunches. Soft pressing and natural fermentation allow the enhancement of the flavor and aromas of the grapes.

This winery is a beautiful reality that deserves a visit.
