San Lurins
Passion and Expertise in Friuli
Winery
San Lurins Winery has its roots in 1874 when the current generation’s great-grandparents purchased the first plot of land in San Lorenzo Isontino, in the province of Gorizia. Originally, the company was a mixed agricultural business, producing wine, cereals, and raising cattle and pigs. This type of agriculture characterized the era, involving all family members. However, in the 1970s, wine production ceased due to family divisions and an economic crisis affecting the agricultural sector. Despite the halt in wine production, the company continued to cultivate and sell grapes to local wineries.
In the 1990s, under the guidance of Armando Pecorari, the winery took an innovative step towards organic farming, an uncommon approach at the time. This change marked a new chapter for San Lurins, focusing on superior quality production while respecting the environment and local traditions. In 2014, Marco Pecorari, driven by his passion for viticulture, decided to resume wine production. The first label, a refermented Istrian Malvasia, was produced in a challenging year but marked the winery’s return to the market.
Vineyards
San Lurins Winery are located in San Lorenzo Isontino, an area that benefits from a unique microclimate. The proximity to the Adriatic Sea and the Julian Alps creates ideal conditions for viticulture, ensuring thermal excursions and protection from cold winds. This natural setting, combined with the soil characteristics, allows for the maturation of high-quality grapes.
The winery stands out for producing labels such as sparkling Ribolla Gialla, born from recent vineyards along the right bank of the Isonzo River. The winery’s philosophy, based on the care of the vines and soil, is reflected in the quality of its wines, preserving the legacy and passion of generations of winemakers. The headquarters is located on Via Gavinana, just steps away from the heart of the Gorizia municipality, offering the opportunity to visit a place where history and innovation merge to create wines that tell a story of passion and dedication.
Wines
San Lurins Winery boasts a selection of wines that reflect the essence of the territory and dedication to quality. Among the most appreciated labels is the Istrian Malvasia, a wine that marked the production’s return in 2014. This variety is characterized by a pronounced minerality and aromatic complexity reminiscent of the Adriatic breezes. Another highlight is the sparkling Ribolla Gialla, which with its lively and fresh character, perfectly represents the potential of the vineyards along the Isonzo River. All the winery’s wines are produced following organic farming principles, ensuring a product that respects the environment and consumer health.
The story of San Lurins Winery is one of tradition, innovation, and passion passed down through generations. From its founding in 1874 to the present day, the winery has evolved while maintaining strong family values and love for the land. Today, under the guidance of Marco Pecorari, San Lurins continues to produce high-quality wines that reflect the unique character of the San Lorenzo Isontino territory.
