The Franciacorta Anna Maria Clementi R.S. 1980 by Ca’ Del Bosco winery
Here is the Anna Maria Clementi R.S. 1980 from the Ca’ del Bosco winery, the first classic method sparkling wine created by the winert. The wine came alive thanks to the expertise of Chef de Cave André Dubois, a seasoned cellar master who came directly from the Champagne region; this exceptional wine aged on the lees for over forty years.
The cuvée is composed of 40% Pinot Noir, 39% Chardonnay, and 21% Pinot Blanc. The carefully selected grapes originate from the historic vineyards owned by Ca’ del Bosco. Initially known simply as Franciacorta Millesimato, it was later renamed Anna Maria Clementi in honour of Maurizio Zanella’s mother, who has been a constant source of inspiration for the founder.
THE WINEMAKING
All grapes were hand-picked and meticulously pressed using a traditional wooden marmonier press. The cuvée was bottled on the lees in 1981 and, for the first seven years, it aged horizontally, after which it moved ‘sur pointe’; the bottles are kept upside down; this is a method commonly used in France for champagnes meant for long aging.
Disgorgement took place in August 2023, and to maintain the wine’s purity, the winery decided not to add any liqueur d’expedition, ensuring that the wine remains undosed.
