The wine Rosso Real from the Moschioni winery
The Rosso Real wine from the Moschioni winery is an excellence of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is made from a blend of Tazzelenghe (50%), Merlot (25%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (25%). The Tazzelenghe, an indigenous variety, imparts notes of red fruits and spices, while the other two grapes enhance the aromatic bouquet with softness and complexity. The winery is committed to organic viticulture, reflecting a deep respect for the terroir. The Rosso Real offers a balance between freshness and structure, making it perfect with meat, aged cheeses, or to enjoy on its own.
The Winemaking
The grapes are manually harvested in September and placed on a single layer in 4 kg crates and 20 kg plateaoux which rest for a few days in a shed at room temperature. Once in the cellar, the grapes are pressed softly; natural fermentation follows. The wine rests from October to April in steel; in April it is decanted in barriques of first and second passage where it rests for 12 months. The wine is then transferred to 2000/3000 liter wooden barrels where it ages for a period ranging from 2 to 4 years depending on the vintage. Follows assembly, bottling and a further year of aging in the cellar before being placed on the market.
Tasting the wine
Intense ruby red with violet reflections. The aroma is fresh with hints of red fruits (strawberry, raspberry and blackberry) followed by floral notes of mountain cyclamen and red rose which in turn give way to spicy hints of cinnamon. Soft and balanced on the palate with silky and well-smoothed tannins and a pleasant mentholated aftertaste.
Food Pairings
It goes well with red meat and hard cheeses. Must try with grilled meat.
