The wine Rosso Celtico from Moschioni winery
The Rosso Celtico wine from the Moschioni winery represents an enological excellence that has its roots in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia. This particular label is the result of a skillful blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, both cultivated in a privileged area between Cividale and Prepotto. The Moschioni winery stands out for its choice to exclusively produce red wines, in contrast to a region renowned worldwide for the quality of its white wines. This bold decision reflects the producer’s passion and determination to offer a unique experience to wine lovers.
The Winemaking
The grapes are manually harvested in September and placed on a single layer in 4 kg crates and 20 kg plateaoux which rest for a few days in a shed at room temperature. Once in the cellar, the grapes are pressed softly; natural fermentation follows. The wine rests from October to April in steel; in April it is decanted in barriques of first and second passage where it rests for 12 months. The wine is then transferred to 2000/3000 liter wooden barrels where it ages for a period ranging from 2 to 4 years depending on the vintage. Follows assembly, bottling and a further year of aging in the cellar before being placed on the market
Tasting the wine by Moschioni
Intense and bright ruby red. The aroma is complex with pleasant hints of berries and cherry in chocolate that leave room for puffs of violet to finish with a fine spicy note of leather star anise, tobacco and black coffee. Juicy and crunchy on the palate with splendid minerality and powerful but well-polished tannins.
Food Pairings
It goes well with red meat and hard cheeses.Must try with stewed mushrooms.
