The Biancosesto from the Tunella Winery
The Biancosesto from Cantina Tunella is a white wine of great character, resulting from a careful selection of Friulano and Ribolla Gialla grapes, two indigenous varieties that embody the essence of Eastern Friuli. Its origin from the Friulian hills and the particular cultivation system give this wine a unique and distinctive quality.
The Tunella winery grows all its grapes according to the canons of integrated anti-parasitic control with low environmental impact.
The Winemaking
The Friulano and Ribolla Gialla grapes are grown on marl and sandstone soils, known for their mineral richness. Harvesting takes place manually in the second week of September, when the grapes reach the right degree of ripeness. Following a well-established tradition, the grapes undergo a brief cold maceration at 4 °C, before being gently pressed together for fermentation. The must ferments in large Slavonian oak barrels at a controlled temperature. The wine matures in wood for 9 months on the lees, with frequent batonnage, and after bottling, it completes its aging by resting for a few months in the cellar before being released to the market.
Tasting the wine of the winery
Visually, Biancosesto presents a bright straw-yellow color, enriched with elegant greenish reflections. On the nose, it opens with a refined bouquet reminiscent of pastries, vanilla, and acacia flowers, accompanied by fresh notes of fruit and white flowers. On the palate, the wine reveals itself as delicate and full-bodied, maintaining excellent freshness and sapidity. The long finish is characterized by almond reminiscences typical of Friulano and fresh sensations from the Ribolla, making each sip a memorable experience.
Food Pairings
Biancosesto is a versatile wine, ideal for any occasion. It serves magnificently as an aperitif and pairs perfectly with first courses based on mushrooms or fish. It is particularly suited with shellfish, crustaceans, and baked fish, turning every meal into a moment of genuine gastronomic pleasure. Serve at a temperature of 8-10°C to enhance all its qualities.
