The wine Florus Moscadello di Montalcino of the Castello Banfi winery
The Florus Moscadello di Montalcino from Castello Banfi winery represents a historic “gem” of the Montalcino territory, renowned for its perfect balance between aromatic expression and acidity. This wine, made from Moscato Bianco, showcases the unique characteristics of the Montalcino terroir. The 2018 vintage is marked by a winter rich in precipitation and a humid summer, followed by sunny autumn months, conditions that allowed for optimal grape ripening.
The Winemaking
Florus is produced through a natural drying process on the vine, a method that concentrates sugars and aromas. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures between 16 and 18°C in steel tanks, with a small percentage in 350-liter French oak barriques. Twenty percent of the wine ages in barriques, adding aromatic complexity, while the rest matures in steel, preserving freshness and liveliness.
Tasting the wine of the winery
It has a pale yellow color with golden reflections. On the nose, it boasts a complex and intense bouquet, with predominant notes of dehydrated apricot, honey, and candied orange. On the palate, it is round and full, characterized by a remarkable residual sugar balanced by good acidity. The balance between sweetness and freshness makes it silky and very persistent, with a long aromatic finish.
Food Pairings
This wine is ideal as a meditation wine, perfect for moments of reflection and relaxation. It pairs beautifully with dry pastries, very aged cheeses, or even blue cheeses, which enhance its complexity and aromatic intensity. The suggested serving temperature is between 10 and 12°C, allowing full appreciation of its aromatic richness.
