The Verduzzo from the Tunella Winery
The Verduzzo Friulano from Cantina Tunella is a sweet wine that fully expresses the characteristics of the Friuli Eastern Hills territory. This grape variety, known for its versatility, is appreciated for its structure and complexity, making it an ideal companion for a variety of gastronomic pairings.
The Tunella winery grows all its grapes according to the canons of integrated anti-parasitic control with low environmental impact.
The Winemaking
The Verduzzo winemaking begins with a manual harvest of the grapes, occurring in the last week of September. The grapes are left to naturally dry on the vine, allowing the concentration of sugars and aromas. After destemming, the crushed grapes undergo a few days of maceration in contact with the skins, followed by gentle pressing. Fermentation is initiated and, once the desired alcohol content and residual sugar levels are achieved, it is halted using cold techniques. The wine matures for over a year, refining during a period of bottle aging before being marketed, which occurs about a year and a half after the harvest.
Tasting the wine of the winery
Visually, the Verduzzo displays an intense golden yellow color, transparent and brilliant. On the nose, it has a vinous, characteristic aroma, with alcoholic notes accompanied by delicate hints of honey and vanilla. On the palate, the wine reveals itself to be sweet, full-bodied, and robust, with a slight tannic note that enhances its complexity. A well-balanced wine, fresh with a long and persistent finish.
Food Pairings
This Verduzzo Friulano pairs perfectly with dry sweets and almond cakes, but it is also sublime with creamy desserts based on mascarpone. For those who love to dare, it is an excellent match with prosciutto and figs, foie gras, or pumpkin gnocchi, making every meal a unique gastronomic experience. Served at the ideal temperature of 10-12°C, this wine is a true invitation to conviviality.
