The Malvasia Valmasia from the Tunella Winery
The Malvasia Valmasia from the Tunella winery is a white wine that best expresses the potential of the Friulian territory. Produced in the hills of Eastern Friuli, where the soil is made up of Eocene marls and sandstones known as “ponca,” this wine represents a wine-making excellence thanks to the care and tradition that the Tunella winery dedicates to its production. It is a wine for enthusiasts due to its complexity and freshness.
The Tunella winery grows all its grapes according to the canons of integrated anti-parasitic control with low environmental impact.
The Winemaking
The Malvasia grapes are hand-harvested in the second week of September, at the right degree of ripeness. After harvesting, the whole grapes undergo soft pressing. The resulting must is statically cold decanted and combined with a fermentation starter prepared a few days earlier. Fermentation occurs slowly at a controlled temperature of 16°C for 30-40 days. Maturation continues with frequent batonnage, until bottling takes place in March of the year following the harvest.
Tasting the wine of the winery
In appearance, the Malvasia Valmasia presents a bright straw-yellow color, enriched by greenish reflections. On the nose, it offers a fresh and clean bouquet, with hints of mint, hawthorn, lime, pink grapefruit, and a delicate marine note. On the palate, the wine is silky and enveloping, evoking fresh aromatic herbs and a light spicy touch, all enriched by a savory minerality that makes it elegant and refreshing.
Food Pairings
Malvasia Valmasia is ideal for pairing with seafood dishes. It shines with pasta with sardines, lobster tagliolini or seafood, and sole ravioli. It is also perfect with herbal pasta dishes, as well as with fillets of sea bream or sea bass. The recommended serving temperature is between 8 and 10°C, to best enhance its organoleptic characteristics.
