The Ribolla Gialla L’Adelchi from Venica & Venica Winery
The Ribolla Gialla L’Adelchi from Cantina Venica & Venica is a tribute to their father Adelchi by Gianni and Giorgio Venica, the current owners of the winery. This wine symbolizes the emotional bond and the passing of the torch between generations of the family. Ribolla Gialla is a historic indigenous grape variety from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, known for its presence since the 13th-14th century. The vineyards are located in the heart of the DOC Collio, an ideal territory that enhances the unique characteristics of this grape variety.
Serve it chilled, around 12/13°C, to enhance its aromatic notes; with over 10 years of aging potential, this wine is set to improve and surprise over time.
The Winemaking
Ribolla Gialla grapes are harvested and destemmed during the third week of September. After harvesting, they undergo maceration for about 14 hours at 10/12°C in oxygen-protected containers using innovative systems that recycle fermentation carbon dioxide, thus reducing the use of antioxidants. About 60% of the wine matures in large wooden barrels of 20/27 HL and tonneaux of 5 HL, while the remaining part ages in steel containers. Bottling occurs during the full moons of April and July.
Tasting the wine of the winery
Ribolla Gialla L’Adelchi presents itself with a bright yellow-green color. On the nose, the bouquet is delicate and pleasant, characterized by aromas of wildflowers, Golden apple, Kaiser pear, and citrus notes. On the palate, the wine expresses great freshness typical of the grape variety, with an almost brackish sapidity accompanied by a light minerality. The citrus notes reappear in the finish, along with an elegant acidity.
Food Pairings
This wine pairs perfectly with delicate seafood dishes, sandwiches with tuna sauce, zucchini velouté, butter and salmon crostini, or grilled chicken salad. It is also excellent as an aperitif.
