THE WINE
The Verdicchio di Metallica Vertis from the Borgo Paglianetto winery is produced with 100% Verdicchio grapes that grow in the winery’s oldest vineyards and represents the maximum expression of this variety. The name Veris derives from the Latin “vertere” (“volgere”) which means “the highest point”. The top indeed!
THE WINEMAKING
After the manual harvest which takes place in October, only the selected grapes are brought to the cellar for winemaking. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The refinement takes place in steel where the wine rests on indigenous yeasts for about 8 months. Assembly, bottling and a 4-month rest in the cellar follows before being placed on the market.
THE TASTING
Golden yellow with greenish reflections. The aroma is rich in aromas; fruity notes of yellow-fleshed fruit such as peach and medlar leave room for herbaceous and floral scents which in turn give way to hints of aromatic herbs. Fresh and soft on the palate, very well balanced with a perfect match between aromas and flavor. The persistence is also excellent.
FOOD PAIRINGS
It goes well with fish and also with shellfish but also with white meat and soft cheeses.
